ePOE opens on a sign-in screen and stays there until you sign in to your epoe.io account. Your account is what the synced parts of ePOE hang off — which notifications you get, your support tickets, and the features shared with the website — so the app asks once, up front, instead of half-working until you find the right page.
There are three ways in. None of them has the app handle your password: the password is always typed into epoe.io's own page or Discord's.
Sign In With Your Browser (recommended)
The big button at the top. It opens epoe.io in your normal web browser and waits — the app shows "Waiting for your browser… finish signing in on epoe.io".
- Already signed in to epoe.io in that browser? You get a card titled Sign in to ePOE Desktop? naming the account. Press Continue and the app signs in; the tab says it is returning you to ePOE and can be closed. One click.
- Wrong account? The same card has Not you? Sign out. Sign out there, sign in as the right person, and continue.
- Not signed in there yet? You get Sign in to continue. Signing in with email and password brings you straight back to the confirmation. Discord and Path of Exile sign-ins do not come back on their own — once signed in, return to the app and press Sign In With Your Browser again.
- Changed your mind? Cancel on the web page leaves the app signed out ("Sign-in cancelled"), and Cancel under the spinner in the app stops waiting.
Why a click at all? Any program on your PC could open that web address. The confirmation is you saying *this app, this account* — and it names the account, so a shared browser never signs you in as someone else.
When the link stops working
Each sign-in link works once and only for a short while.
- "This sign-in link has already been used" — you refreshed or reopened the tab. Start again from the app.
- "This sign-in link is invalid or incomplete" — the address got cut off. Start again from the app.
- "Sign-in timed out" in the app — the browser step was not finished within a few minutes. Press the button again.
- "Too many attempts" — wait a minute, then retry.
Email & Password
Opens epoe.io's login page in a window inside ePOE. Use it if you would rather not involve your browser, or your browser is signed in as someone else.
Sign in with Discord
Opens Discord's own authorisation window. Use it if you created your epoe.io account with Discord.
Your Path of Exile session is separate
Signing in to epoe.io does not connect your Path of Exile account. That is a second, optional connection under Settings → Connections → Live Session:
- Connect signs you in to pathofexile.com. The session is stored encrypted on your PC and never shown to the app's interface.
- With it connected, trade searches run from your own machine and IP, and you get your character list and your own shop.
- The session never leaves your PC; it is not sent to epoe.io. Disconnect removes it from the app.
Signing out
Settings → Account → Log Out signs this app out of epoe.io and returns you to the sign-in screen. It does not sign your browser out — so if you use Sign In With Your Browser again, it is still one click. To switch accounts, use Not you? Sign out on the confirmation card.
