Sign in on a second machine and ePOE brings your preferences with you. Cloud Settings Sync mirrors the parts of your setup that are the same wherever you play — hotkeys, controller chords, appearance, which tools are on the feature bar, notification choices — through your epoe.io account. It is on by default, works quietly in the background, and never touches the settings that only make sense on one PC.
What syncs
The rule is simple: preferences sync, machine facts do not. Anything you set because you like it that way follows you:
- Hotkeys and controller bindings — every keyboard, mouse and controller chord.
- Regex slots and named regex profiles — your saved search strings.
- Price-check profiles — the weight profiles and price-check settings you save.
- Appearance — opacity, text size, interface scale, density, accent, per-widget overrides.
- Feature bar and launcher — which buttons show, and whether you use the bar, the Selection Wheel, or both.
- Notification choices — which kinds you want (these are account-backed anyway, so the website agrees too).
A new preference added in a future release syncs automatically, so you do not have to come back and switch anything on.
What never leaves the machine
Two kinds of setting are held back, always:
- Credentials and your Path of Exile session. Your POESESSID, tokens and sign-in are never candidates for sync — they physically cannot be in the payload. They stay encrypted on the machine they were entered on.
- Device-specific settings, because they would be wrong on another PC: the monitor ePOE attaches to, remembered window positions, your stash-grid calibration and tracked stash slots, the game-window title, which OCR backend runs, the Ritual board capture region, and whether bound mouse buttons are blocked from the game. Local scratch — your recent-checks log and the Notepad's text — stays local too.
On by default, and how to turn it off
Cloud Sync is on whenever you are signed in. It only ever does anything while signed in; signed out or offline it is a silent no-op that leaves the app untouched.
The switch is Settings → Privacy → Cloud Settings Sync, next to the last-synced time. Turn it off and your preferences stay on this machine only; turn it back on and this machine re-joins the shared set.
First sync and conflicts
The first time an account syncs, ePOE seeds the account from the settings on that machine. After that, a fresh install adopts the account's settings — but it never clobbers changes you have already made locally. The merge is per key and last-write-wins: a key you customised on this machine wins, everything else fills in from the account.
If two machines change the same setting at nearly the same moment, the sync resolves it the same way — your local edit wins for the keys you touched, the server fills the rest — and re-pushes, so the two machines converge rather than fighting. You never see a conflict prompt; it settles itself.
