Ritual hands you a board of rewards to buy with Tribute, on a clock, and one or two of them are often worth more than everything else combined. The Ritual Loot scanner reads the board, names and prices every reward, and paints the valuable ones over the game so you can keep your eyes on the screen.
It is now the only Ritual tool. The separate Forbidden Rites advisor from earlier releases has been merged into it: one scan does the recognition, the pricing, the highlights and the take / reroll / Audience advice.
Press Ctrl+Alt+R (the Ritual Loot hotkey — rebind it under Overlays → Hotkeys) or open Scanners → Ritual Loot. The hotkey brings the app forward on that page; the scan itself is the Scan Ritual rewards button.
Using it in the seconds you have
- Open the Ritual reward window so the whole board is visible. A partially scrolled or covered board scans partially.
- Press Scan Ritual rewards. Recognition plus pricing takes a couple of seconds.
- Read the highlights in game. For 15 seconds, every confidently recognised reward worth at least your Highlight threshold is outlined over the board, with its name and price. The layer is click-through, so it never stops you clicking a reward.
- Buy in value order until Tribute runs out.
Gold and blue highlights
- Gold — the reward is worth a Divine Orb or more at the current Divine rate.
- Blue — worth less than a Divine, but at or above your Highlight threshold (50 ex unless you change it).
Rewards below the threshold, rewards with no market price, and anything the scanner is unsure about are never highlighted.
How the board is read
The board is located automatically at any resolution and aspect ratio — 16:9, ultrawide, and 4:3 or 5:4 screens alike — so there is no region to calibrate. Each reward is then found by its frame on the board and matched on its artwork with the background removed, with a dedicated matcher for Omens. The catalogue behind the match holds every unique, Omen and Augment, including the ones the market has no price for, so an unlisted reward is still named instead of guessed.
Recognition is local: the screen pixels never leave your PC. Only the prices come from ePOE's cached market for your league.
What "uncertain" means
A reward the scanner could not match confidently is uncertain. You will see it as:
- Possible: <name> in the Recognised rewards list — the best guess, with its match percentage.
- A dashed box in the Recognition preview.
- +N cell(s) not confidently recognised — hover them in-game to check under the list.
Uncertain rewards are never highlighted in game, because a wrong highlight is worse than none. Hover them in game and read the tooltip; for anything expensive, Ctrl+Alt+D on the item is the source of truth.
Tribute costs, and the advice
Path of Exile 2 only shows a reward's Tribute cost when you hover it, so a board scan usually cannot read the costs. When no costs were read, the page says so plainly and skips the take / reroll advice instead of advising on zeros — use the valued rewards and the in-game highlights.
When costs *are* read, the Recommendation section works it out:
- Take — the best set of Favours that fits your Tribute, with the Tribute they cost and the exalted value they capture. A value-per-Tribute pick, not "buy the dearest thing".
- Reroll or keep — whether the board's best affordable pick clears your floor.
- Audience — whether banking Tribute for an Audience with the King beats spending it here.
Ritual's own numbers change with your Atlas passives and between patches, so the advisor asks for them: Reroll cost (Tribute), Reroll if best pick below (ex), Audience threshold (Tribute) and Audience value (ex). Change any of them and the advice updates without re-scanning.
When recognition struggles
- Anything drawn over the board — another overlay, a chat window, the cursor over a reward — hides what it covers. Close it and scan again.
- A non-English client does not matter for identity: rewards are matched on their artwork, not their names.
- A reward missing from the list is usually one the market has no data for yet; it still shows as No market price.
Sending a capture with a bug report
Every scan saves the board it read, and what the scanner made of it, to:
%APPDATA%\ePoe Overlay\ritual-captures
The newest 20 are kept. If a scan named a reward wrongly, missed one, or put a highlight in the wrong place, open that folder, attach the newest PNG as a screenshot on a report under Help → Submit a Bug, and say which reward was wrong. The JSON beside it records what the scanner made of that board, if you are asked for it. Real boards are how recognition gets fixed.
Ritual strategy, briefly
The scanner solves identification and pricing. The judgement is still yours:
- Tribute is the constraint, not time. Prioritise by value per Tribute, not absolute value.
- Rerolling costs Tribute. Only reroll a genuinely poor board, and remember you cannot get a rerolled option back.
- Deferring is real. You can leave a reward for a later ritual in the same map, which sometimes lets you afford it.
- Liquidity matters. A high-value item you cannot sell is worth less than a mid-value currency stack you can.
